Biography
World-class vocalist Shayna Steele has been on the
Broadway and NYC music scene for the past 12 years. After only 3 months in New York, Shayna was cast to be the first replacement in the history of the Broadway production of Rent. The new show was at its peak when she joined the original cast. Other Broadway credits include Jesus Christ Superstar and the smash hit musical Hairspray. Shayna has appeared on The Grammys, The Tonys, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Conan OBrien, David Letterman and she was a teen vocalist on Ed McMahons Star Search. She has had the honor of performing at Jazz @ Lincoln Centers Rose Theatre, Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. The demand for her voice has led to recordings on Mobys Hotel and his upcoming album Last Night on the song Disco Lies which was featured in the film Cloverfield. Shayna also collaborated with Moby on the theme song for last summers Blockbuster hit The Bourne Ultimatum starring Matt Damon. She performed on the Grammy award nominated album Great Joy with The Broadway Inspirational Voices and the movie soundtracks of Legally Blonde 2 and Bambi 2. Shayna also lends her voice once again to the Dynamites in the 2007 release of Hairspray starring John Travolta. Shayna made a special appearance singing on HBOs The Sopranos during the shows final season as well. Shayna has 2 bands, her 8-10 piece R&B band under Shayna Steele and her jazz group, Shayna Steeles B-Side. She has played such venues as The Blue Note, Joes Pub, The Cutting Room and B.B Kings in NYC. Shayna has shared the stage with such performers as Ledisi, George Clinton(opening act), Bette Midler, Deborah Cox, Moby, Oleta Adams and Journeys Neil Schon.
