@sabotage139 i wouldn't say his dayan is out of tune... just low. my primary dayan is like that too. if his is anything like mine, it probably just has a really thick syahi.

It's funny, i liked midheaven a lot better than their other two albums, and i'm a progmetal drummer who listens to the faceless and veil of maya and vital remains and even heavier shit.... i just feel like their second album was just better artistically.

@Madbutcher305 great point, but no one in the metal world has impressed me quite as much as the faceless.

@gcastro44 two words: Terry Bozzio. the guy gets hundreds of people to see just him and his kit onstage, anywhere in the world he chooses.

@sebbimon he's fast, but far from technical. i've only ever heard one or two time signatures and no polymeter out of him. if you want technical metal drummers (of which there aren't many, you really want latin players for the crazy stuff), try thomas haake or blake richardson.

@monterfish11 senses fail most likely couldn't play one song by these guys. they're in a whole new league of technicality.

i know no one likes to take comment suggestions, but if you want an impressive, challenging song, try obfuscation by between the buried and me. that one's a killer.

i love your playing, but did you have to pick their easiest song? there are much more impressive tmv songs out there, such as tetragrammaton or l'via ''viaquez. and i'd still like to see you play a faceless cover or an ultrageist song. the ancient covenant or high steaks, respectively. either one...

i love dreamtheater, but i never much liked mike, and solos like these are the reason why. there's nothing creative about this. yes, he has chops, but they're all hand-foot combinations, quads and sextuplets and such. and single strokes. lots of those.

@HispanicImpression i liked it better as a timbale solo with bongos backing, like on the album. bongos aren't meant to solo in that way. that's all rudiments, and as solos go, it lends itself more to timbales.
