@Gritsen maybe for a younger audience, I get what you are saying about the tonality...the original IS the definitive work, but this solo melted my face...the sweeps were amazing towards the end.

@edwardharlan You put this on the level w/ physical grafitti? The leftovers on this record are great, as seen in the first two tracks. It gets a little weak when they reach down for something fresh. After track two, there's nothing inspiring.

when comparing the Diamond Dave era to the Sammy era, one thing puts Sam ahead -- consistency. Go listen to the Sammy records, front to back. Then compare them to the earlier releases. We all love early Van Halen, but the records were inconsistent. Dave was all over the place, glamming it up,...

I wonder how Ed feels about Michael Anthony being inducted instead of his boy Wolfie? You know they edited Michael out of all of the early album covers for awhile. Talk about a bunch of asses. Sam and Mike are the only decent guys to come from this band.

The Vai-Vandenberg version modernized the song for the times, but Neil Murray's bass line kicks it on this version, and you can really appreciate the roots of this song. Very nice indeed.

this proves Kee Marcello is the better guitar player from Europe...listen to how Norum misses the really fast parts....Kee can play EVERY Norum solo and make it sound better...Norum sounds like he is in a Europe tribute band when he tries to play a Kee solo.
