Salva Terra, A Vision towards Earth Healing is a non-profit organization that supports the work of Salva Terra, which means healing and wellbeing for the earth. Our mission statement: We seek transformation in our lives and world • By remembering life's sacredness • By addressing life's brokenness • By serving earth's oneness Inspired by the vision of John Philip Newell and Ali Newell, who speak from within the Christian household, we journey in communion with humanity's great wisdom traditions. We seek to listen to the Spirit at the heart of the human soul and the universe.
The Rev. Dr. John Philip Newell is a scholar, peacemaker, and poet. He divides his time between Edinburgh with his family where he does most of his writing, and the U.S., where he teaches and preaches across the nation. John Philip is an ordained Church of Scotland minister with a passion for peace among the great wisdom traditions of humanity. His Ph.D. is from the University of Edinburgh and he is internationally acclaimed for his work in the field of Celtic spirituality, having authored over 15 books, including Christ of the Celts, Listening for the Heartbeat of God, Praying with the Earth, and A New Harmony, recently named one of the "Best Spiritual Books of 2011," and four CDs of meditative prayers and chants. Formerly Warden of Iona Abbey in the Western Isles of Scotland, he is now Companion Theologian for the American Spirituality Center of Casa del Sol at Ghost Ranch in the high desert of New Mexico where he and his wife Ali, also an ordained Church of Scotland minister and associate chaplain at Edinburgh University, lead spirituality retreats for three weeks in July. The chant, "God Invites Us," is from the CD, "Chanting for Peace, Praying with the Earth: Meditative Chants and Prayers" © John Philip Newell, 2010, Linda Larkin, Composer, is used with permission.
