@MrJH1959, the powder charge for a Bess has to be larger than others because it fires a 75 caliber Round ball. Accuracy isn't great because of a lack of rifling. Compare the kentucky mountain rifle to the Bess and the differences are huge due to that one factor of rifling versus no rifling

The only gripe I have is that they are shooting the damn pumpkin literally ten feet away from the kid talking. That is what is unsafe. How lame

@TheSyndicateGreece, the rifling of the barrel combined with the shape of the round create this effect. The Brown bess and other flintlocks muskets were referred to as "Smoothbore" which mean that inner barrel is smooth and the ball was round causing loss in accuracy and the ball could roll out....

@demfings My point was to say that the Thompson and MP40 are both excellent sub-guns, and with modifications, the Thompson can defeat the MP40, but the great aspect to the burp gun is that it requires nothing but 32 rounds in the magazine to ruin any watermelons day.
