Angra - Live at Rock Machina Festival 2002 (Spain)
These guys triumphed in this edition of the festival.
The "Nova Era" of the Brazilians is being more successful than what for many people expected, the thing is that, in my opinion, the band is living its best times. Who did not think that the Brazilians would collapse after the escape of Matos and more than half band? But the fact is that the replacements are even better than the ones before. Many of us already were amazed in their last tour (you can read the review in these pages), and I wanted they to triumph in this festival as well as Wacken. The concert wasn't as perfect that the one we saw in the tour, but it nearly was. And, if it wasn't, was due again to the sound, since they began with a horrible sound, although it went better as minutes went by. The technical aspect was offered by both guitarists, Kiko Loureiro and Rafael Bittencourt, the ones who decided to carry on with the band, but the energy was offered by an exceptional Edu Falaschi. Oh my goodness, what a vocalist. It's true that people who like Matos will prefer him in Angra, but I never saw him singing as well as this guy does, it's a real engine. Without having that Matos's innate trebles, he nearly calks them, he adds fierceness to the songs, which I love and make him a more complete vocalist. Without doubt, nowadays one of the best vocalists (and for a long a time). The new incorporations were also on the same level. The drummer,Aquiles Priester, was a little more weak, but Kiko and Rafael have also discovered a great bass player with Felipe Andreoli. Of course, the performance was based on their last studio album: "Nova Era", "Acid Rain" and two magnificent "Heroes of Sand" and "Millennium Sun" where Falaschi made me literally thrill, were the most outstanding. They didn't forget their last mini-album "Hunters and Pray" either, of which they performed the same called song Sodomand, of course, some indispensable classic ones like "Angels cry" or the ones in charge of ending their concert "Nothing to Say" and "Carry On". I would make also stand out the samba percussion act, which has been included in their shows and where each member of the band takes an instrument to offer us some funny and interesting minutes. Others who, like Annihilator, should have been higher and with more minutes. Excellent.
