I consider Spanos's work in 2 recordings of 2 complete operas by great Handel - TAMERLANO and ORESTE masterpieces, his voice from a BETTER WORLD and these CDs my MOST VALUABLE musical possessions. His recitatives are not even uploaded on YT but they are separate pieces of GREAT ART! Nicholas Spanos is the FINEST, the most SOPHISTICATED countertenor with the smoothest and effortless TECHNIQUE ever, who treats the TEXT of the piece in any language he sings with great respect expressing the meaning of EVERY word. He is also DIFFERENT from the other countertenors as he is a very VERSATILE SINGER who can sound very high and very low using his great TECHNIQUE in accordance with the MUSIC while the others sound approximately in the same range. Better to say that he has A UNIQUE VOICE AND HE IS IN THE CLASS OF HIS OWN! HIS VERSATILITY IS STAGGERING - FROM BAROQUE TO MODERN MUSIC WHERE HE IS EQUALLY CONVINCING! WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC NICHOLAS SPANOS HAS NO LIMITS!

Also, he is UNIQUE not only due to his ENCHANTINGLY BEAUTIFUL SINGING, his DIVINE, MARVELLOUSLY both LYRIC and EXRESSIVE VOICE, but also owing to his SIGNATURE COLORATURA -always ORIGINAL, beautiful, light, ethereal, seamless, intelligent, EXQUISITE one, and the way any artist uses coloratura shows his or her INNER CULTURE! Any artist either has it or not. It's the HIGHEST ART!

In our hectic world with dubious values and superficial perception of art when art has become commody and great music ( e.g. baroque) is taken SUPERFICIALLY by many people like itunes for ipods and who can't tell TRUE serious art from MUSICAL PARODY on opera, when many even talented artists end up just ENTERTAINING people and serving only the MARKET this stunning artist manages to serve only the MUSIC and PURE ART sharing his SOUL, TRUE EMOTIONS with those who still CAN and WANT to listen, bringing with his singing kind, positive, non-aggressive BEAUTY!
