About Scott Beck
Basically it's folk or folk-rock with a more contemporary feel - and the song themes vary from spiritual wisdom and political, social, and environmental causes to angels, romantic ballads, fairytales, everyday observations and personal experiences. I also cover a few songs of my favorite artists from time-to-time.

Scott Beck, a singer/songwriter currently based in Sedona, AZ, grew up with the Beatles and the extraordinary music that was created back in the '60's and '70's. Beginning on acoustic guitar, he learned some finger picking styles from folk songs of the early 60's, then later progressed to the electric guitar and became enamored with the "blues gods" of that era.His first band experience was during high school ('65 - '68) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, playing top-40 and rock and roll; then a band in Okinawa during his tour in the Navy, playing FM-standards by the Who, the Allman Brothers, and ZZ Top. He then played on and off for several years in the San Jose, CA band, Ded Ringer, writing a large portion of the group's originals.
About that time, a plague swept the country, almost snuffing out the life-blood of rock music...a deadly virus called Disco. Groups disbanded, and musicians went into survival mode, disappearing into dark, seedy bars, homeless shelters, lounge acts, or IBM. Some even got married -- and were never heard from again.
During his final days with Ded Ringer, Scott saw the writing on the wall, as he was caught up in all the drug / alcohol / partying that was getting out of control. He quit the band and removed himself from the music scene for 12 years until 1994, when he realized he still had the desire to play and create soulful music -- so he joined a classic rock band in '96 (SRO) that played great rock and soul from the '60's, '70's, and '80's, in Sedona, Arizona.
Scott soon moved beyond the desire to play cover tunes, re-discovered the magical sounds of the acoustic guitar and began to write his own material again. In June of 2000, through a life-threatening health situation, Scott experienced an awakening - the beginning of a new course in his life's path. The words to his songs took on a deeper and more personal meaning, and reflected many of the issues and challenges we all face.
He focused on writing for three years, then entered Virgin Sun Recording Studio in July of 2003. His debut CD, released in January 2004, "Between Heaven And Earth," consists mostly of songs written during those first two years of challenge - songs of spiritual growth, healing, angels, and reflecting on his life's experiences. Since then he has expanded his style and subject matter to include songs of peace, political/environmental/social causes, humor, romance, folklore and fairytales.
While his finger-picking style coaxes warm, melodic tones from his acoustic guitar and speaks softly to the listener's ear, it's the words of his songs along with his smooth vocal delivery that captures the attention of his audience, sometimes spinning light-hearted tales and other times asking them to question what is going on in their lives and the world around them.
A modern-day troubadour, Scott writes and performs songs that truly connect with the audience on a heart and soul level, bringing them a sense of peace and comfort and a feeling that they're not alone in this world. He offers his songs to a world that is hungry for peace of mind and a return to a simpler way of life.
I'm still laughing over your great commentary and what Ahhnold had to say. Good luck with this - and keep on rockin'!
