Yup - I held a pad there so that I could play some chord substitutions over the top and have it make sense. If you listen on speakers with some low end it's very obvious (on purpose).

To clarify, the alt tunings require that the signal already be in DSP, so you would need to use Variax versions of the magnetic sounds to be able to retune on the fly. Does that help?

Actually, it's a Korean version - it comes in either tobacco or cherry burst, or the black - all three with wood binding.

You are correct, you cannot "tap" a single coil pickup, because it, well, only has one coil :-)

These pickups (and many others like them, made by a bunch of different companies) are single-coil sized, but are actually two coils stacked on top of each other. They're voiced to ...

The guitar is a natural finish Variax 69', and it's a US custom shop prototype. You'd need to get the USA version to get that finish, I believe...
