Their diet consists of rabbit, deer and moose. Wolves are social animals living in packs. They communicate with each other using scents and howling. De wolf leeft in een familiegroep, een roedel. Communicatie in een groep wolven gebeurt door middel van lichaamshouding, stand van de staart en oren en gezichtsuitdrukking. Uiteraard speelt het maken van geluiden ook een belangrijke rol in het communicatiesysteem. Een wolvengroep huilt regelmatig, dit versterkt de onderlinge band, maar zo is het voor andere groepen ook duidelijk waar deze roedel zich bevindt. De wolf kan tonen horen tot 40 kHz, tonen die te hoog zijn voor het menselijk gehoor. Speciale hondenfluitjes zijn ontwikkeld, die niet voor mensen, maar wel voor honden en wolven hoorbaar zijn. The Lynx is easily recognized for their tuft of hair at the tip of each ear at least one inch in length or longer. These ear tufts help them in securing their wild prey unannounced. The Lynx has a short, stubby tail which is black at the tip. An adult male lynx weighs up to 40 kilos. The lynx lives a secluded life in the large forest areas and avoids contact with people. It prefers to live in almost impenetrable rocky areas, hiding in caves. By day it usually rests or cleans its fur. At dusk and at night the lynx hunts rabbits, hares and even roe deer. The discussion about whether the lynx should be re-introduced in some of its original habitats has as many supporters as it has opponents. And that also applies to other animals...
