The guy on 2nd Box (Graeme Mitchell) is playing very well for a pissed man. very tight (pardon the pun) playing by a group of guys who don't normally play together. Brilliant! GM wasn't pissed BTW
Don't know the tune, but it starts off very similarly to 'The Hot Potato'. I have posted elsewhere that Powrie himself used 'Echoes of Oban' as the middle 64 bars. A 32 bar jig played twice doesn't reflect the composition of the dance which is 32/64/32 bars.
Can't answer Poppybox's Q about John MacGregor, but I think he may have died. Two friends who are the same age as I am (67) played as junior members of his band so he'll be getting on a bit if he's not dead. He certainly hasn't been on the band scene for many years. I'll post again if I speak ...
