Schmitty The Weather Dog is five pound Yorkshire terrier who, after nine firefighter friends died as heroes on 9/11, posed for a line of greeting cards, New Yorkie Greetings. For two years, the profits from Schmitty's cards were donated to the Uniformed Firefighter's Association Scholarship Fund. Things just snowballed from there. Since then Schmitty has appeared on The Ellen Show, Access Hollywood, FOX & Friends, even Japanese TV. Schmitty is the only pooch to be named NEW YORKER OF THE WEEK by NY1..

Schmitty's weather pawcasting career started on her 8000 mile BARK THE VOTE campaign during the 2008 presidential election. Crossing the country in the BARK THE VOTE campaign camper, Schmitty and Meteorologist Ron Trotta reported on the "climate of the election" while also visiting animal shelters and getting out the vote.
As of today, Schmitty The Weather Dog along with Meteorologist Ron Trotta have done over 300 weather pawcasts from wonderful and wacky places all over the country. Unlike most weather humans, Schmitty is usually right! Schmitty has a nose for the weather.
