I agree about he wrapped the tape the opposite way. i was taught that you wrapped both sides to the outside because your hands put more pressure to the outside of the bars when you grip them. That way the tape has a less of a chance to unravel when you are gripping it.

Gene Krupa playing on Cozy Coles drums, they sure used such large toms back then. The floor toms looked to be 18'' at least. This movie was one of the better of the big band leader movies that came out in the 50's. My favorite was the Benny Goodman story with Steve Allen as Benny.

One of the best if not the best versions of this song i've ever heard, better than Barbra streisand's i think. I remember watching this live in '73 and marveling at the performance.

Why would 730 people dislike this. It's not what someone looks like but how they perform thats what is important. If you are not inspired by this then you are in a really bad way, makes you want to cheer for all the underdogs and under appreciated.

I like the newer reworked version of this song a little better than this one, both great but i like the ending better on the new version. No one can top Charice, love her.

Drummer Bernie Dresel sure gets around, i've seen him in several big bands on youtube. A great all around drummer, can play anything, really swings.

Mel Taylor one of the best , if not the best rock drummer of all time. He got so much sound out of that little bitty drum kit with only one cymbal. Love that style of playing, all the rhythm nowadays is played on the hi-hats. Everything sounds the same.

Anyone that says she was not a good player doesn't know what they are talking about. There was alot of skill involved in that sequence. There is a vid of Buddy Rich doing much the same thing, going from one percussion instrument to another before finally ending on the drum kit.
