Here's my first song production. I made two versions of this song--a radio mix (short) and an extended mix (long for djs). It was a long learning process, but I think I've made a decent song (especially for my first). If you have any suggestions, please let me know via the email on my webpage. I would appreciate any help at making my next song sound better.
What I used: Ableton Live 7 with various virtual instruments and various sound collections (kicks, highhats, etc.) I recorded Andrew's vocals in my kitchen using a decent Nova mic, I have an m-audio audio interface for the mic and a good set of studio monitors. I spent quite a bit of time mixing the track (getting the levels right) and then had a difficult time mastering so that everything was balanced (compression and eq). If you have any tips regarding mastering songs, I would appreciate it. I have already tried t-rack mastering suite, and it seems to do the trick.
