...JUST FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES...
----------------------------------
...you dont have to know all scales to be a good musician...but you have, at least to try to understand how the 12 notes system works...
----------------------------------------------------
...when i play i m not thinking in C-D or E..or in which scale are im...i m thinking in the Mode of the current Root(1) and his related notes 3-5-7-9-11-13
....and more than think...im listen and feeling how these 6 notes work with the current Root note(1).

Ionian mode= "CM7 (2)(4)(6)"=Major scale

"C"is the root 1.+ a perfect 5(G note)....."M" means a major 3th)(E note)...7 means a major 7(B note)...this is the base tetrachord of the Mode....and then come the extensions:

2=9...4=11...6=13......all perfects for Ionian.(no flat or sharp extensions)
---------------------------------------------------
...this is a personal library...where i store some diagrams in video.... for that times when a friend ask¡... i send him here...this diagrams came from my buddish mandalas trips...but it work for me...
...if it work for you...you are free to use it.
---------------------------------------------------

If you dont know Anything about Scales and Modes...the easy side of the scales theory are the PENTATONICS Scales (5notes scales)...
you can learn it as a Scale name or by the Chord they form....

-Pentatonic major scale...CM 6/9 chord.
(Egyptian at 2th mode, Pentatonic minor at 5th mode)

-Insen scale...C7 su4 ad b9 chord.

-Minyo scale...Cm#7 ad11 chord.

-Hirajoshi scale...Cm b6/9 chord.
(Iwato at 2h mode, Kumoi-Miyako Bushi at 4th mode, Chinese at 5th mode)

-Balinese scale...Cm b6/b9 chord.
(Modern Japanese at 4th mode)

-Pelog scale...Cm7 ad b9 chord.

...there are 36 pentatonics scales(that do not use 3 or more semitones together...chromatics runs not allowed)
------------------------------------------
after you get the pentatonics you can go to the HEXATONICS scales (6 notes scales) such as:

-Wholle tone scale...C7#5 ad9/11
(symmetrical)

-Augmented scale...CM6#5 ad b9/11
(symmetrical)

-Prometheus scale... C7x5 ad 9/#11

-Tritone scale...C7 ad b9/#11
(symmetrical)

-Istrian scale...Cmb5 ad b9/b11
/bb13

-Desvanecida scale...CM6#5 ad #9/x11

-Blues scale...Cm7 ad 11/#11
(this last two scales, have 3 semitones together than make it a little hard than the others hexatonics)

...there are 27hexatonics scales (that do not use 3 or more semitones together...chromatics runs not allowed)
------------------------------------------
after you get the Pentatonics and the Hexatonics scales you can go to
Easy HEPTATONICS Modes

the videos:

-minor modes(Dorian family)
-major modes(Ionian family)
-dominant modes(Mixolidian love)

-flat five modes 1(half-disminished, Locrian family)
-flat five modes 2(disminished & others)
-the strange case of the SHARP FIVE family
--------------
the scales:

-Major
-Melodic minor

-Harmonic minor
-Harmonic major

-Hungarian major
-Hungarian major Inverted
-------------
...42 heptatonics modes that do not use 3 or more semitones together.
...i call this group, the easy modes...

...the difficult are these modes, using three or more semitones together (chromatics runs allowed
) in their formulation ... they create complicated chords, which are difficult to name, play, and learn.
----------------------------------
these are what i like to call the EXOTIC HEPTATONICS scale and modes:

-Denuka scale

-Poorvi scale

-Todi scale( persian at 5th)

-Hungarian minor scale (Oriantal at 2th, Bheron-Double Harmonica-Flamenco-Arabic-Bizantine-Gypsy at 5th)

-Blues Modified scale (Blues ad 2)

-Locrian q7 scale( Bluesy RR at 6th)

-Marva scale (Aeolian bb7 at 3th)

-Neapolitan minor scale

-Samba scale

-Neapolitam major scale (Arabian at 5th)

...there are 25 of this exotics heptatonics scales...(most of they are present on the Melakarta system)

.....and after all this....a little more complex family of 20 members:
(with a chromatic run of 4 semitones in their formulation)

-Enigmatic minor scale
-Enigmatic Desendent scale
-Enigmatic Asendent scale
-Locrian #2 q3 scale

-------------------
after you get the exotics heptatonics
you can go to the OCTATONICS scales:
-disminished scale
-major bebop
-dominant bebop
-dorian bebop
-melodic bebop
-spanish 8 notes scale

...later to the tcherepnin 9 notes scale...

....and finally... congratulations.....your a free being....a being of ligth....and you can forget all the scales and go chromatic from here¡¡¡

"I know a room of musical tunes.
Some rhyme, some ching. Most of them are clockwork.
Let's go into the other room and make them work." Syd Barrett "Bike"
