but even though they lost, they still proved so much...
like to use hockey movies as an example, were they to win, it would have been like the mighty ducks (this little team out of no where topples the dominating team in the league)
but even though they lost, it was like the movie mystery, alaska, where even though they lost, they put up a hell of a fight, and the crowd still loved them when it was over
hope i didnt just spoil those movies for you lol
and yes, the arena can get very loud during playoffs
its little things like that here and there that prove why phoenix can be such a great market
but, i also do remember the team was like this when they first aquired bryz, and it took a year or so before the coyotes became the finely tuned machine that it was in 09-10
its one of my main arguments when people insist why the coyotes dont work
i actually just got done arguing with someone regarding why the jets left, and i posted their season by season attendance figures and compared them to the coyotes...and the first thing he said was that it couldnt have been right
they look at the few 6K or 7K games that the coyotes have had in the last couple years, and seem to forget all the sellouts from before the ownership crisis, or all the 15K seasons the yotes were doing when they hadnt made the playoffs in a few years
any other team would have gone to 14 or 13K fast after just a couple years without making the playoffs (just look at some of the current teams who were once on top a few years ago)
although, the reason for that could be that they never really had much money to work with from the owner
and yes, phoenix already has the potential to be a huge hockey market because phoenix has one thing that most other cities dont, which is people visiting from up north
some opposers might see this as why the coyotes should move (the building is never full of 100% coyotes fans, theres always a large chunk of fans for other teams), but thats actually a selling point, because the tix are still getting sold
plus, many of those people are season ticket holders, and while they do root for their home team first, for every other game of the year they root for the coyotes (and sometimes they eventually root for the yotes as their number 1 team)
but as far as the coyotes situation, theyre probably still lurking waiting to see what might come up
but they keep alot of that hush hush, probably so rumors dont get started
as far as goldwater, they probably are, just to wait and see if they can try and claim any deal that ends up being made is illegal
i mean the last one with matt hulsizer was legal, yet they still dragged it through the mud and threatened it enough so the bonds wouldnt sell
basically, if phx loses the team, it will be all on them
ive seen plenty of sell outs there, and when the team is winning, people will drive out there
at the absolute most during the worst rush hour, i would say its about 30 minutes farther than the drive to downtown phoenix where they used to play
they were going to build the arena in the middle of scottsdale, where most of their fan base is, but that deal fell through so glendale stepped in
