About Me:

I remember being about 9 and playing with my brothers in the cold, rusty-colored waters on the shore of Lake Michigan by the beach behind my grandparents' Breezy Point Tavern near Escanaba. We normally found weatherworn driftwood chunks to heave into the water or pointy sticks to play with, the thrillseekers that we were, but, this one day I remember two foreign boys about our age appeared out of nowhere.

Turns out they only spoke french. I couldn't tell you what they said because it was all greek to me.

But, it didn't matter. We played the whole day, hour after hour without understanding a single word. We had a terrific time somehow anyhow. I guess that's kinda why I like youtube. It's full of interesting, random people with all kinds of entertaining skills and talents. If you take your time to post a clever or random youtube or both THANKS! Really. I hope I catch it and can post a comment on it that maybe inspires you to create more. I'll pop some of my faves into my playlists if you care to check any out. Must-hear singer/songwriters:

Occupation:
Dad, Professional Photographer, ex Engineering Management
Companies:
TANGent TECHnologies
Hobbies:
#1: my kids. After that, professional digital photography, indoor/outdoor soccer, guitar/piano/music/songwriting, internet, internet radio station, writing, cartooning, caligraphy, drawing, painting, art, history, genealogy, hiking and 50+ mile canoe trips, camping, fishing, horses, tennis, golf, basketball, animation/claymation, inventing, reading, learning, dogs, cats, 2 fish tanks, gardening, cooking, new friends/old friends, exploring new things and reinventing old favorites (golfing and glow-in-the-dark *glofing* :), teaching, coaching (soccer, t-ball, baseball), volunteering, helping out other creative types, house concerts, taking videos and watching yourtubes of course (I'll post some more in the future--but till then check out some of my 150,000+ still photos [some of fellow youtubers] at tangtechphoto DOT com OR flickr DOT com SLASH photos SLASH samtang), etc. Speaking of artwork, I whipped up the Spongebob painting you see tiled on this page the night before my son's birthday party in about an hour. Spongebob was for a pin-the-tail type game where each kid filled in a speech bubble with their own one-liner or drawing and tried to stick it to the blank one (not shown). My son had about 20 little souvenirs from the party from each of his friends so it was pretty cool. The idea for Sponge Cake hit me funny in my sleep deprived state at the time--like it? ........................................................................
Movies:
With a couple young kids, I mostly only see Disney movies and Cartoon Network dominates my TV (and I don't have any of those videos I can post). But, I'm getting half the Spongebob voices down pretty good by now, like Plankton and The Narrator guy :). I can go for stupid movies like even Cabin Boy to serious ones like Schindler's List and everything in between. I watch youtube a thousand times more than spoonfed network TV but sometimes I'll catch The Office or a Seinfeld rerun or something on the history channel or science-related or whatever. ........................................................................
Music:
Huuuuge range. Too huge. Playing guitar since lessons at 7 years old so played and studied and enjoy more genres than I can list. My 60GB iPod is maxed--and that's songs, no vids. My faves though are new, indie artists like you youtubers or who play at our house concerts or ask for 'air time' on my radio station who I know or had a chance to talk to and get to know a little bit. I like the stories that go with your songs and songwriting and I've featured some great ones on my radio station. I also have some great ones I've run across on youtube in my ever growing playlist. It's fun to help boost budding artists listens/views/rankings, energize fellow creatives with comments/suggestions, help them jazz up their websites or CDs or media releases with my artwork/design/photographs, etc. If you post a good song or video, you'll get a ton of replays from me because I spend a lot of time on developing and perfecting digital photos in my little digital photo lab on my Mac's with Photoshop and an array of other photo editing and polishing tools. Your great youtubes are always playing in a corner of my screen so I always look forward to seeing your videos pop up in my subscription New Videos. Thanks especially for the original song and singing videos which are a sweet to watch while I work! ........................................................................
Books:
I read several books and a stack of all kinds of magazines a week like MacAddict/MacLife/American Artist/Backpacker/Outdoors/American Woodworker/Esquire/Everyday with Rachel Ray/Scientific American/Discover/Popular Science/TIME/Readers Digest/Rolling Stone/Etc./Etc. or you name it not to mention a jillion emails and stuff and RSS Feeds on the web haha. I'm a regular at 3 different libraries and it's just as likely I'll grab any old random book plucked from the shelves as one that I went to the library specifically to get. I read a lot of random stuff I guess. Lately, let's see: Poker Tells, The Millionaire Mind, The Shattered Mind, eBay for Dummies, Photoshop How-to's, Bright Lights Big City, The History of Escanaba, The Fascinating Walt Disney... that'll all change next week but you get the idea... ........................................................................
