These lectures offer a enlightening look at classical Christianity from its original and historical roots: the Christian faith once delivered to the saints as the Apostle Jude writes. This faith has been taught by the Holy Fathers of the Church, and has been preserved and practiced by Orthodox Christians for 2000 years.
The Orthodox Church is Orthodox but not Jewish; Evangelical but not Protestant, Catholic but not Roman. We are not Non-Denominational but Pre-Denominational. It has believed, preserved, defended, taught and died for the faith of the Apostles over two millennia.
Our speaker, Father Josiah Trenham, is an Orthodox Christian priest, pastor, author and lecturer. He was raised and educated in the Protestant Reformed Faith before converting to Holy Orthodoxy in the early 1990s. In 2004, Fr. Josiah received his Ph.D. in theology (patristics) from the University of Durham in England under the tutelage of the internationally renowned Orthodox Christian theologian and Professor of Patristics, Fr. Andrew Louth.
Since 1998 Father Josiah has pastored St. Andrew Orthodox Christian Church in Riverside, California. Since 2003 has taught as an Adjunct Professor of History at California Baptist University. Father resides at the St. Andrew Rectory with his wife Catherine, and their nine children.
Our ten week series is entitled, Orthodox Christianity and the Protestant Reformation: Luther, Zwingli, Calvin and Cranmer and their legacy through Orthodox Eyes.
