About saffsgrandad's channel
Name: Chris Holmes
I suppose you could call me "The Tom Paxton Preservation Society" since nearly half my repertoire consists of his songs. The photo you see used as wallpaper was taken at the Buxton Opera House.
(For any non-folky people who see this, the guy with the hat is the great singer-sonwriter Tom Paxton and I am the other one)
Other musical influences are Phil Ochs, Martin Carthy, Martin Simpson, Richard Thompson.. oh hell, name a folk musician and I'm influenced by them. My ambitions, musically speaking, are to be able to play like Nic Jones and do a duet with Tom . Aim high I always say. I'm never going to get there, but at least I have a target to aim for.
Favourite music: Folk / blues
Favourite author: Isaac Azimov / Bob Heinlein
Instruments: Guitar (Levin W32J circa 1972/3), mandolin, penny whistle (very badly)
Career: Maths teacher
Married 36 years to Penny, 2 daughters, one grandaughter, two grandsons
