The credits song from Mother 3. One of the best pieces in that game, I hope I did it justice in this arrangement. Lots of chord changes.
I personally think that it's 16 Melodies because if you count all the phrases in the 8 Melodies, Smiles and Tears, and the Theme of Love, you get 16 phrases overall. However, the general consensus is that they took the "8" in "8 Melodies", added it to the 8 melodies required to make Smiles and Tears in Earthbound, and got 16. The Theme of Love is not accounted for in that interpretation, and the fact is that in neither Smiles and Tears nor the 8 Melodies are there actually 8 melodies. It's more like 5-7, depending on what you call a musical phrase.
I say that because all the discussion on other 16 Melodies videos seems to be exclusively about that. If you've got a new interpretation, say it, but please take into account the preceding paragraph.
