I'm not convinced that faith can move mountains, but I've seen what it can do to skyscrapers. - William Gascoyne
Definition of Christianity: the belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree

We're all connected, to each other biologically, to the earth chemically, and to the rest of the universe atomically. That's kinda of cool. That makes me smile. And I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It's not that we're better than the universe. We're part of the universe. We're in the universe, and the universe is in us.
--Neil Degrassi
I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.
- Stephen Roberts
When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion.
- Robert Pirsig
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
- Epicurus
I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms.
— Albert Einstein
The Bible
Oral transmission by primitive, superstitious people seeking the marvelous, a religion competing with other religions that featured gods that died and came back from the dead, gods that were born of virgins, had an enormous pressure to adapt, to evolve, to become more *magical* and hence attractive to the poor and ignorant who were the earliest and easiest group of converts. Who could be surprised at the growth of legend in first the oral transmission, then the encoding of the most successful inventions (quite possibly interspersed with some surviving facts) in the earliest manuscript.
