A true rider is someone who can believe in their own capabilities, someone who can find the best in very horse they come in contact with, a person who even in the bad times outshine with the good. These people are amazing. They believe ribbons are worthless, but the unbreakable power and love between horse and rider are priceless. They wouldn't trade anything for that feeling. They can find inspiration by simply looking at their horse. These people are true equestrians.

If people look at you and see a bad rider, they aren't looking hard enough. If people look at you and see a good rider, they aren't looking deep enough. If people look at you and see a girl who is dedicated to her horse in every way and loves him no matter what, they are seeing the real you.

to be a rider you'll trust the unpredictable. you'll understand that nothing comes easily. you'll have to enjoy the taste of dirt; chances are, you'll eat it a lot over the years. you'll forgive. you'll need a strong back, soft hand, and the occasional ice pack. you'll learn to "fall correctly"...it always looks worse than it is. you've got to want it everyday, because everyone wants it on Sunday.

People ride horses because they love it. Ask any rider, most of them love it and hate it sometimes, and they couldn't imagine their life without it. It's part of them, the love/hate relationship. its what they live for. They live for the practices, parties, cheers, long truck/trailer rides, invitationals, countless pairs of boots for horse and rider, water, Gatorade, & coaches you love and admire. They live for the way it feels when they beat that other rider knowing those two extra lead changes they did in their lesson were worth it. They live for the way they become a family with their barn friends, they live for the countless songs they sing in their head while training all those hours. They live for the competition, they live for the friends, the practices, the memories, the pain, its who they are. It's who we are. We are Equestrians.
