Have you already heard the cf-30s? I never heard the 686 before but since its a bookshelf speaker i would put them in the back just becuase the room would look better set up that way. That cf-30 goes a little lower than the 686 (40hz comapred to 42hz) which isnt big difference. Just compare them ...
