Welcome to one of America's best kept secrets, The Sacred Steel Guitar Tradition of the Church of the Living God.

The Church of the Living God was founded by Mother Mary Lena Tate in 1903 and later established it nationally in 1908 in Greenville, Alabama.

The Sacred Steel Tradition began later with Willie Eason in the late 1930's, thus setting into motion a 70 year steel guitar legacy that would forever distinguish Mother Tate's church from all others.

Much like Jazz & Blues the African American Steel Guitar Tradition was born on American soil and remains a part of our little known history in this country.This music tradition is yet another powerful force to rise out of the soul and spirit of the black church.

This page was created to help document and preserve The Sacred Steel Guitar Tradition of the Church of the Living God and to showcase some of the most dynamic steel players never heard outside of their local church walls.

This page is a video-driven social network designed to embrace and celebrate all of Mother Tates Sacred Steel Guitar players past and present for giving unselfishly of their time, talent, and resources to keep this music legacy alive.

May God continue to bless this Sacred Steel Guitar movement, as it moves from the church stage to the world stage.
