Alzheimer's is not a disease - it's a natural degeneration of the brain. We used to deal with it a whole lot better than we do now that they've started calling it a disease.

@esotericist Presumably doctors kept trying different combinations of the generic drugs until they came up with the right ones - drug companies didn't invent a "new" drug - they used two cheap generics that were already on the market.

@VirtualMedSchool1 Neurontin was not created for neuropathic pain - they wanted it as a psychiatric drug, but could not get it approved for that so they got in the "back door" of neurology. Placebo effect.

@SlenderTroll Ok, so poor choice of words " You'd drop kick the thing too if it was biting you - that "poor thing" has teeth and claws and can do a lot of damage even at that size. BTW "almost" doesn't cut it - they DO eat meat as well, just like other bears that are also "mostly herbivorous".

What the mother cat did in the video you mention was a reflex - my cats would do that when they were sleeping - they would "pull their faces in" - the kitten just happened to be in the way so it got inadvertently "hugged".

Jane Pauley says her "disease" was "brought on by steroid treatment for hives, and antidepressants. Truth is that it was a drug interaction - not a mental illness. I'm not saying what happened wasn't real - it just wasn't a mental illness.
