@norsemustang In this situation the punt is obvious since the time can cause a turnover (via inability to score before time expires). If they run around for 12 seconds and don't get a safety or a first down then it is a double turnover and they win. Two choices here, and punting is obvious.

The great thing about this game was that there were no punts made by either team. Georgia Tech only lost one 4th down attempt. It should have been everyone's game of the year.
