Yes, it was Virens 3rd olympics and he was obviously past his prime. He got beat by a outstanding kicker in Yifter, but he destroyed Yifter in Munich in the 10,000 meters. Where did Yifters kick come into play? He didn't have that kick in Munich or in Montreal. Did he run in Montrea in 1976? I don't remember him there because I watched all of the track and field and don't remember seeing Yifter. Maybe he was injured then.

The original band was the best band ever assembled in many years at that time in 1971. They were the tightest instrumental group around. Bill Graham was right when he said,"we'll round it off with the best of them all, the Allman Brothers". The Seven turns album in 1990 was awesome. The ABB w...

Dickey will always be a Allman Brother for ever amen. I don't care if they don't speak or hang out anymore. I think Dickey should be back playin' with the Brothers. It's where he belongs. He seems lost at times because I know he thinks about the ABB. How could he not? He was with them for o...

    The Allman Brothers: Dreams

I agree that the best lineup for the ABB was the original band no doubt. Duane was miles ahead of everybody as far as intonation, overtones and raw talent. He played notes that out his gibson that I never heard before. He was a real genious. He coaxed those gorgeous sounds out of his guitar b...

Jimmy Hendrix was eclectic at the time and created a dynamic sound. Duane was just as talented but played different that's all. Duane was into jazz, that's all the ABB listened to for years during Duane's tenure with the band. They didn't listen to rock when they were home in Macon. Miles Dav...

The Allman Brothers Band in '70 '71 was the premiere rock/blues instrumental group of their era. Their style will never be duplicated or matched by anyone----they were extreamly unique.
