Jimmy (el rumbero) grew up in Southern Europe where from a very young age was exposed to music, and the sounds of Spain , Italy and Greece . At age 16 started his first band Golden Teens Quartet where he sang and played the bass. The band expanded by adding more members, and that transformed it to a dance band. His influences came from Spain with rumba flamenca, and Latin America and the Carribean with boleros, mambo , cha cha cha, and merengue.

After moving to California , joined Los Dinamicos where while they played in an array of venues in Los Angeles in the mid seventies, they witnessed the first sounds of something new being born in New York at that time called Salsa..

He went on to work for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as a correspondant/photographer covering such events as ,The Golden Globes, The Grammys and the Academy Awards. Later, he went on to produce salsa venues both in California and in Europe .

Since then, Jimmy's passion for salsa only got stronger. He frequently attends salsa events and is an avid dancer. He considers his daughter Joanna his teacher. (She is part of a salsa rueda group "Timbea" in the Bay Area, where very recently took 1st place in Miami , and 2nd place in Vacouver Congress.)
