Also, my MINI is a 1.6 making 200 hp. The mustang is 3 and 1/8 the size of my engine but I have half of its horsepower.....and about half of its weight :)

Sounds like the fuel injectors to me. To be honest, it sounds pretty normal for the newer prince engine. The death rattle would be a lot worse than that
