About Me:
Before you send me a Friend invitation, please read this:
1. I am not really on YouTube to collect Friends. I don't treat this as a social networking site, only as a site for my own personal (wholesome, for the most part) entertainment.
2. I am mainly interested in videos of oldies music (roughly 1955-1985) or local Philadelphia public transportation. If this is the type of video you produce, I likely WILL want to be your YouTube Friend.
3. If you or a family member a budding Justin Bieber with the hope of making as many YouTube Friends as possible along the way to fame and fortune as an international singing star, I wish you luck, but becoming part of such circles of friends is not my reason for joining YouTube.
4. If you are a performer of your own videos, and your specialty is Christian music, I'm not really into this, so I'm not a good choice to become a YouTube friend of yours.
5. Finally, I am going to be less interested in being your YouTube friend if you automatically start up a video when I visit your Channel page.
I'm an oldies music fan. I also have a perverse interest in SEPTA commuter rail trains.
I have set up some playlists in a series called "Songs You May Know By" and hope to do more of these. I'm trying to find as many reasonably well-known songs as I can to put on these lists. Of course, a lot of videos come and go here. I'll try to replace the ones that drop off, although if WMG or some other copyright holder has gotten rid of one video of a particular record, they'll probably get rid of others of that record, too. However, sometimes videos just disappear because an account was closed as the result of other videos that had been uploaded by that account causing that account to be closed, and the one I had in my playlist was not a problem. Also, sometimes a video is removed by the person who originally posted it because there was something about it they didn't like (quality reasons).
So far, I've done "Songs You May Know By" playlists for Herman's Hermits, the Monkees, the Beatles, Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Rivers, and Tommy James & the Shondells. I have started ones for Dusty Springfield, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and the Turtles, but I don't know if I'll get enough song ideas for these.
I also have some playlists of songs written by various singer/songwriters that are sung by others. So far, I've done Joe South and two guys named Neil who graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY.
Favorite major league baseball team - Philadelphia Phillies, who have made the postseason for the 5th year in a row!
Favorite college football team - Whoever Penn State is playing!
Favorite NFL team - Whoever the Dallas Cowboys are playing!
Hometown:
Montgomery County - both MD and PA
Country:
United States
Companies:
General Electric (not currently) and others you've never heard of
Interests:
Democratic politics. Toastmasters International, which I have been a member of for 20 years.
Music:
Oldies from 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. I have seen Neil Diamond live in concert more than 20 times (went over the 20 mark in August 2008), including three times on August 10 in three different years, each separated by exactly 16 years (1976, 1992, 2008). I thought that was a lot until I met other fans online who have seen him close to a hundred times (or even more).
Books:
Legal thrillers. I have read at least one book by each of the following legal thriller authors and have many favorites among them: John Grisham, Scott Turow, William Bernhardt, Lisa Scottoline, Jeremiah Healy (aka Terry Devane), Grif Stockley, Richard North Patterson, Steve Martini, Phillip Margolin, Jay Brandon, Michael Kahn (aka Michael Baron), Joe L. Hensley (brother of Neil Diamond bandmember Tom Hensley), Philip Friedman, and William Lashner. Also, dk Eyewitness Books on science and other subjects that are found in the children's section of libraries and bookstores but are written in a way that all ages can enjoy them.
