@ChelseaTemptation Metal is probably closest to classical in composition than other modern rock forms. I'm a big fan of metal and classical (and Pavarotti) as well.

As for the Fish era and the Post-Fish era...sometimes a certain combination of artists produces a whole greater than the sum of its parts. I don't think either post-Fish Marillion or Fish on his own will ever achieve the level of greatness that Marillion and Fish had together. I like them both w...

Hard to point out one favorite album by them. Morningrise has always been a favorite. I really like Still Life a lot, personally. They don't have an album that I don't like, so it's a matter of finding favorites among a bunch of good ones.

Agree with learntosuffer999. I listen mostly to death metal, with a few select power metal bands thrown in here and there. But I like Cruxshadows a lot. Great stuff.

Gotta get this DVD. Seen these guys live 4 times. The only thing that saddens me is that I'll probably never again see them in a little club where you're three feet from the band and the guys are hanging out in the bar before their set.

I can see some stylistic similarities of "some" Agalloch and "some" early Opeth (Morningrise and before), but not much beyond that.
I do think Opeth has the edge in terms of being a better band, but these are both two of my favorites and both great bands imo.

Very nice. I was exposed to this song by Candlemass. I like the traditional version as well!
Gotta love all the people getting butt-hurt because this guy pokes fun at a few corporate-made country stars.
