About Me:
Pagan is Latin and translates, "Country Dweller." Basically anything pre-Christian in and or around the city of Rome is or was Pagan. When Christianity became the official religion of Rome, the "Country Dwellers", still believed in the old religions. They were also referred to as "Heathen" as they lived on the heaths (a word for hills, meaning hill people.) The words "pagan" and "heathen" have been extended in recent times to include any monotheistic religion and even any non-Christian religion. As far as actual age goes, most of the Christian ceremonies have Pagan origins. Everything from the Eucharist to the holy mass were first done by Pagans. Noah's flood is a pre-Christian story as is the story of Adam and Eve. Christ's birth on December 25th is a transformed Pagan holiday, as is Halloween. The Christian religion owes its very foundation to the religions that came before it.
Paganism is as old as the Civilization of Humankind. Pagan beliefs started when people started thinking about the natural phenomenon, Moon, phases, Season changes, Rain and Thundering, Tree growth, Harvesting and the Breeding of Prey animal, Maintaining Livestock etc.
Another Thought
Paganism is the original spiritualism, dating back past the civilization of humankind and originating at the point where we (as a species) became self aware. The first creature to raise its head and look at the stars with fear and wonder harboured the seeds of paganism in its breast.
The Neolithic Revolution begins and results in a world-wide population explosion. The first cities, states, kingdoms, and organized religions begin to emerge. The early states were usually theocracies, in which the political power is justified by religious prestige.

We have paintings, carvings, tablets and the oldest known writing predates Judaism (which predates Christianity). Greek and Roman paganism existed long before Christianity and they did know how to write.
There is also the process of elimination: many Christian beliefs are foreign to Judaism and did NOT come from Judaism.
Judaism was the only monotheistic religion at the time (the Egyptian version had died centuries before).
Therefore, where did the foreign beliefs come from? Pagans
The oldest documented religion still in existence today is a form of paganism, believing in a god and goddess, it is over 40,000 years old, and was once practiced everywhere, though loosely, by Native Americans, Celts, and ancient Romans and tribal Africans. However, it is not as strong because of conviction and genocide by the catholic church.
the oldest form of worship is Paganism, from which Wicca and other forms of Earth reverence were born. Mother Earth was worshipped as a Goddess as far back as Paleolithic times (about 30,000 years ago). Modern paganism is based on the Celtic religion, which had its origin about 1000 BCE in what is now modern Slovakia. Ironically, the religion that is now known as Celtic did not arrive in Britain until 200 BCE, but instead expanded across Europe firs
