Unfortunately for that idiot guy who got trapped in the recent flood, it wasn't an inside joke: his punch line can be seen by millions of people all over the country, thanks to the magic of televised interviews.
Accept it. Laugh about it. Not only does it lessen the blow, the name-calling also loses significance simply because "itfunnier when you the object of ridicule fights back."
