Postcards from the Edge is an awesome movie. So funny.

Clear evidence that no matter how successful and talented a performer is, she can still be made to feel like she's no good. This looks like it was miserable. Glad they got it right in the end.

@ontariobuds Uh... for now, at least, you can watch the first two episodes of season one at the channel Sheperd75 -- with French subtitles. I don't know of anywhere to watch the rest of the first season online, but the DVDs are easy to buy or rent if you're in region 1.

@MrMidwest Dunno about smoking, but regardless, I'd say there's a big difference between singing and dancing in a musical live every night and recording a single song for a movie under ideal conditions.

@XeonEagle Celebrities know that because they are famous, their voices are more likely to be heard, and they are more likely to influence people. Recognizing this, they often see it is as their responsibility to champion worthy causes. It makes sense.

I love when subtitles are wrong. The kid says, "What, to off myself?" And the French subtitles say, "What, if I were different?" Not the same thing at all.
