About damn time there's a new SSX game!
First, real quick before I do my usual essay's worth of explanations and opinions and such, I will be splitting this demo playthrough into separate parts, usually on the events. This is not because I'm trying to "view-whore" or anything. It's just that my PVR, along with my computer, is a piece of shit and it doesn't like me, so in order to retain my sanity hoping to not have a 20 or 30+ minute video crash or whatever, I have to record in chunks. So there you go.
What you're looking at here is the second part of the tutorial where you get used to riding down the mountain, pulling off tricks and whatnot. The first part you basically fly in a rather stationary position and just do around 22 tricks so there wasn't really a need to record that. Keep in mind, this was my very first time playing the game, so don't be surprised if I crash a few times, press the rewind button on accident, or generally act retarded. :P
I've been an SSX fan from the very beginning. I still remember picking up SSX along with Crazy Taxi at an EB Games as my first couple of PlayStation 2 games. Let's just say that I played SSX more. ;) I loved the hell out of it, rented SSX Tricky and it was still great, but then SSX 3 came out and it blew my balls off. That game was amazing, played the shit out of it. Then SSX on Tour came and it was nowhere near as awesome as SSX 3 was. Since then, there hasn't been a "major" SSX game... until now, motherlovers.
I am very pleased to say that this demo kicks ass. This new SSX game is fun as hell. From the looks of it, they're staying to the same crazy and frenetic attitude as the earlier games. They encourage you to use the sticks for the trick system, but you are more than welcome to use the face buttons still (which I recommend). Though you can't play as all of them, much of the classic SSX characters return such as Mac, Zoe, Kaori, and Elise - just to name a few.
The gameplay is still smooth as ever, and the sound design. Oh man. The audio is orgasmic. If you love dubstep, then this game has you covered. Tons of bass drops, tons of great remixes - and mixing for that matter - and the music itself makes the experience better. Speaking as a musician, this is one of the better games to use audio/music to add to the gameplay. It's fucking awesome.
Anyway, not to "over-hype" the game, but I'm in love with it. Definitely gonna pick it up and if you're interested, then download the demo! It's free on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and I'm not sure if it's also on PSN or not, but regardless, there you go!
Hope you enjoy the video and have a nice day!
