It's weird. At 17 when this song came out, I truely understood it's meaning. At 52 and in failing health, it'll be my funeral song. The meaning never changes You dont get songs like this these days. I'm glad I grew up in the era I did.

This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I lost a 20 year marriage and I guess I'll never understand that she never felt the same way about walking away. I gave it my all. Life is cruel, but it's a great song.

When this came out, I was too young to realize the meaning of this song. It's amazing that now that I'm in my 50's, I understand, I've lived it now. This came out when I was in my teens

Brings back sweet memories of my youth and the summer of '72 I was only 12 at the time. but it was one of the best summer's I ever had. The music was just awesome back then
