RoboTech srl is an academic spin-off company of the Scuola Superiore SantAnna, a public University in Pisa (Italy), pursuing excellence in research and in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education. RoboTech srl was founded in 2004 by a research assistant and a Professor in Biomedical Robotics at the ARTS Lab (Advanced Robotics Technology and Systems Laboratory) of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.
The long term mission of RoboTech srl is personal and service robotics, while the short term mission is entertainment and educational robotics, or edutainment robotics.
RoboTech provides also services for the conceiving, design, development, prototyping of new products at both prototypal and pre-production level.
Specific competencies of RoboTech srl are in the design and development of robot visual and auditory systems, ultrasound sensory systems, embedded speech recognition and synthesis systems, embedded control systems, robot control architectures, robot graphical user interfaces for PC and mobile phone, Bluetooth communication facilities. The staff of RoboTech includes electric engineers, computer engineers, mechanical engineers and computer scientists. The expertise of RoboTech srl derives from the experience in research carried out at the ARTS Lab of the Scuola Superiore SantAnna in the areas of Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Robotics, Neuro-Robotics and Humanoid Robotics.
Among the products developed by RoboTech srl is I-Droid01 (http://www.i-droid01.com ), a programmable robot in an assembly kit, with a number of sensorial and behavioural functions, distributed internationally by DeAgostini Editore. For I-Droid01 RoboTech designed and developed the electronics, firmware and software.
Thanks to I-Droid 01 RoboTech has been awarded with the "Fifth EURON/EUnited Robotics Tech-Transfer Award" as best European spin-off company operating in the field of Robotics and realising technology transfer from research and academia to industry.
The prize was assigned in Prague the 28th of March 2008 during the last meeting of the European Robotics Network of Excellence EURON (http://www.euron.org ).
RoboTech srl was also among the finalists of the Start Up Award 2008, prize for young innovative companies awarded annually by PNICub, the association that join the incubators and the academic business plan competitions in Italy.

RoboTech srl is the only European design house of Sensory Inc. (http://www.sensoryinc.com ) , world leader in embedded speech and synthesis technologies.

RoboTech is partner of the research projects DustBot, URUS, and Hydronet funded by the European Commission in the 6th and 7th framework programme.

The DustBot project (http://www.dustbot.org ) aims at developing a robotic solution integrated in an Ambient Intelligence infrastructure for the improvement of urban hygiene in pedestrian zone of city centre. The system includes two robots, one for the door to door separate waste collection and air monitoring and the other for road sweeping. Within DustBot, RoboTech is in charge of the design and development of the robot for road sweeping.

The URUS project (http://www.urus.upc.es ) aims at the design and development of a network of robot for the urban environment for the achievements of the following tasks: goods and people transportation and guiding. Whithin the URUS project, RoboTech is in charge of the design and development of the robot head for human robot interaction.

The Hydronet project (http://tinyurl.com/yzleska ) aims at the design and development of a network of robots and sensors for water pollution monitoring in sees, lakes, and rivers. Within the Hydronet project, RoboTech collaborates to the design and development of the robots.
