I have spent many a day and night in the Honey Island Swamp. Most of the time I have spent in the swamp was during the fall and spring. I never saw nor heard anything resembling a "monster". I have seen a largecat cross one of the dirt roads leading into various parts of the Swamp, but never a "monster" like the one described so oftern. It doesn't mean one is not there, it is just I never did see nor hear it.
