About Me:

Many of these clips are from the home movies of my Grandfather Gustave Martens (1900-1977) of College Point, Long Island. During his youth in neighboring Whitestone he ran errands for a local film studio where, I imagine, he dreamed of a future career in filmmaking. When the studio moved to Hollywood the staff wanted him to come along, but family matters forced him to stay home and take on a sales career instead. Rather than let the disappointment kill the movie bug in him, he became the home movie king of College Point!

Today his films have transcended their amateur status to become meaningful artifacts of times gone by. He'd feel right at home on YouTube today - so Grandpa, this is for you.

Greetings from Sheboygan. Hi Robert. Superb films and great presentation. Wish your grandfather would've lived in my neck of the woods. I would love to have seen my old Track & Field events documented so beautifully. Thank goodness for a steady camera hand, a roll of Kodachrome, and artistic vision. Phil
