Your "official" match case looks suspiciously like the $1 cases from Wal-Mart. Exactly like them in fact. I have a few and they're adequate. The bar on the bottom is a tiny ferro rod, not a match striker. Good luck lighting matches on it. It's not great as a ferro rod either for that matter.

You had to use a lot of muscle force the blade thru- looks like you need to touch it up on the stones a bit. A really sharp knife will push cut the corner of a phone book one handed without much effort.
But if that's the factory edge I'd say "not bad." Most factory edges suck.

The real "trick" is that the matches can be wet but the striker must be dry. Squeegie all the water you can off and it will work.
