@asbabbazi Dutch then French first settlers followed by British in 1814. Brought slaves and indentured workers from W. Africa, E. Africa, Madagascar, Arabia, India, Indonesia and China. The proverbial melting pot. The food and beaches are out of this world! :-)

This man is not Japanese. I suspect the video has been tampered with as there is a brief frame of another karateka part way through it. He knows the kata but his technique is not what you'd expect of a senior, Japanese, JKA instructor.

@maycontainnutsMe too. I knew the whole story. The Slave Trade was a complex but shameful event. Newton saw both sides, as a slave ship captain and owner, and spending time in chains in an African ruler's prison, surrounded by Africans waiting to be shipped off across the sea. They helped and com...

Brilliant! As good as Tony Tribe's version, just in a different genre. Thank you Neil Diamond for such a simple but deeply moving song.

@jgannuny Hi. This is traditional style Mauritian sega music. I left the island 40 years ago. Don't recognise the singer so must be more contemporary. Get on to a Mauritian website and ask there. Good luck!
