Joined Neil Young's band at age 17, played on "After The Gold Rush"; formed GRIN in 1971, release "Grin" followed by "1+1" which included the top 40 hit "White Lies". In 1972 joined Crazy Horse and played the first album. Began recording as solo artist in 1975 with release "Nils Lofgren"; continued solo career through 1984 recording 7 albums. Played & toured with Neil Young on "Tonight's The Night" in 1973 and "Trans" 1983.
Joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band as guitarist in 1984 and played over 150 shows worldwide on the "Born In The USA" tour. Recorded and toured with E Street band throughout the 80's, the 1999-2000 world tour, and 2002-2004 tour.

Joined Ringo Starr's All Star Band in 1989 for the world tour, live album and video. Returned for the 1992 Second World Tour and live album.

Currently continuing solo career with an archive of over 35 albums with a new release in 2006 "Sacred Weapon".
