Rick Rose is a multi-award winning film and theatre director who uses a unique blend of drama and comedy to create thought provoking entertainment. This is driven by his desire to inspire change in the world.
Rick's theatre productions consistently play to sold out houses and earn great print and radio reviews. Most recently, the Toronto premiere of Rabbit Hole (2007 Pulitzer Prize winner) was given a 4 Star rating from Now Magazine and voted "Critic's Pick" of the Fringe Festival by the same publication. Other shows of note include Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy, Harold Pinter's One for the Road, Tristan Tzara's dada piece the gas heart, and Tom Stoppard's The Real Inspector Hound.
Unforgotten (2010) funded by Bravo!FACT, premiered at the prestigious 2010 Montreal World Film Festival, won the Platinum Remi Award for Performance Arts at the 2011 Houston International Film Festival, and was well received at the 2011 Newport Beach Film Festival in Southern California.
The award winning thriller Thinking of Africa (2008) which premiered in Guelph, Ontario to a sold out audience won the Jury award for Best Twist.
Banana Who (2008), a film Rick produced for Running Duck Productions was nominated for Best Children's Film at the 2009 Foursite Film Festival in Ogden, Utah, and was an official selection at the Prince Edward Island International Film Festival and the ReelHeart Film Festival in Toronto, ON.
The Parting Gift (2007) received rave reviews at its premiere at the 2007 Canadian Film Fest and has been featured at other festivals including Night at the Indies events in both Toronto and Vancouver, Canada.
In 2010, Rick was hired to direct and edit a pilot for a half-hour buddy comedy entitled Benneth which has received interest from production companies in both Canada and the United States.
Rick is developing his first feature film, the dramatic comedy A Super Disco Fever for 2012.
