Are you kidding me? Kubrick has an incredibly dark sense of humor. Not only this, but Lolita, The Shining, and Full Metal Jacket. There is such a thing as black comedy.

@tickedoffnow @tickedoffnow when this was new, there were plenty of people saying it sucked compared to the eddie murphy years. when eddie murphy was on, people said it sucked compared to the first years. there has never been a time when everyone loved SNL. someone always thinks it sucks.

@MartinXNewton and yet NBC allowed him to mock it here in the anniversary show. And whenever they show clips of the history of SNL, it's always on there.

what is so amazing is that this is a sondheim "diddy." this isn't a showstopping number, and yet it is absolutely brilliant. it is so much deeper than just a song about the journey of the characters.

it sounds good, but the conductor is really racing them through the piece. i have a recording of robert shaw and the atlanta chorus, and he really pulls and pushes the piece more.

I don't care how well they sing or how good the sets are or how they all hit their mark. It's not about how talented these kids are. This would be great if it weren't a horrible job by the cameraman. Dude, quit zooming in and zooming out. Keep the subject in full frame. It was so distracting!
