As far as comparing 125 to 250s and 250s to 450s that was just to get you to buy 4 stroke bikes. On road or off 4Ts need double the displacement to compete. Anywhere else that would be cheating.

Actually 4 strokes do not have more torque, 2Ts have much more torque. Problem is the power band tends to be very peeky. Well the rub is not that the 4T bikes could even hang with the 2Ts. They just kept adding displacement to the 4Ts until they were just too fast. It was simply political, nothing to do with which was a better race bike.

The only true comparison would be equal displacement bikes on the same track.
