About this user

I'm the English guitarist Richard Chapman. I taught myself to play and grew up with a diverse range of influences including jazz, classical, folk, rock, pop, Arabic, Indian, and Brazilian music. Magical chords and linear improvisation are featured in my music and I write my own compositions. Some of my melodic approaches have come from English folk music. I've always been deeply interested in harmony and spent many years revoicing jazz standards. I see my own unique style as original world music which comes from Britain.
I play a nylon string acoustic guitar made by David Whiteman, and sometimes a Bourgeois steel string acoustic guitar.
I wrote the book on playing called The Complete Guitarist.
