Rich Fisher and Ed Baker are two intrepid Englishmen who have enjoyed a decade of friendship based largely on a shared love of booze and good times. And one day, they decided that it would be a splendid idea to spend the summer of 2008 taking part in the Mongol Rally!
For those not in the know, the Mongol Rally is an epic adventure that takes place every year, and involves several hundred teams attempting to drive all the way from England to Mongolia in a really crap cars. It's a journey of over 8,000 miles via some of the worst roads on earth.
Setting off in a battered Peugeot 106 with next to no mechanical knowledge, many doubted whether Rich and Ed would make it much further than Belgium. Their gritty determination however eventually saw them roll triumphantly into Mongolia - after a highly eventful four-week journey that saw the boys get up to all sorts of shenanigans... from making friends with the local mafia in Kazakhstan, to getting banned from an eminent motor-racing circuit!
Rich and Ed took a camera with them to document their adventure - and are now slowly but surely putting together a movie of their epic adventure.
This YouTube channel features a trailer for the movie, and also some raw footage that was shot prior to Rich and Ed's departure, when the boys were in the thick of preparations for the rally.
For further details. Rich can be contacted richardpfisher@hotmail.com
Also, if you are on Facebook, you can join a group dedicated to Rich and Ed's film. The group is called 'Ed Baker and Rich Fisher's heroic attempt to win the 2008 Mongol Rally', and effectively the boys are using it as a means of having a mailing list.
So, if you want to be kept 'in the loop' with what's happening with the film, simply find the group and join up!
Last of all - a few links...
