Love the ambient shredding. You see kids, this how and why you learn to shred; to COMPLIMENT melody and feeling. NOT to showboat in front of your friends.

    Mattrach + American Special Telecaster

Mattrach Improvises with his American Special Telecaster plugged into a Supersonic amp.

    rhythmblues6 rhythmblues6 commented:

People say this dude is soulless but he is showboating on purpose. This video is basically an advertisement after all. I see great technique and at such a young age. He plays fast but doesn't sacrifice rhythm and melody like so many others. Check out his videos and you'll see his versatile nature.

I do like your playing, you have great sense of rhythm in your improving which is huge compliment when living in a shred obsessed generation. I like constructive criticism as well so here it goes. The first nine frets were literally left untouched, learning to utilize those extra scale patterns w...

@GozerTheGozerian Okay, it's about the movie Alien but I think Cedric writes these lyrics because his genius mind sees incredible stories within the story, metaphors. I do believe Cedric is also too smart and too self-respecting to be emo so I agree that this is not a self-loathing song but agai...

    rhythmblues6 rhythmblues6 commented:

I know tone depends on many factors other than amp settings but what do you guys think his settings are for this piece? Gain, treble, middle and bass? My settings are always Mid gain, 3/4 treble and middle and bass are all the way down. Everytime I try to experiment with my settings the tone turn...

    rhythmblues6 rhythmblues6 commented:

The think about great musicians is that they don't have a prime age. Larry has been progressing longer than I have been born, and although he's still got alot of life in him, but when he's gone there's going to be so much more he could have contributed to music. Yngwie Malmsteen - fastest picker in the world

    rhythmblues6 rhythmblues6 commented:

This is speed and quality although I can't listen to Yngwie for more than fifteen minutes without becoming annoyed at the full shred sounds. He's got incredible skill and he also does it passively as if it were no big deal. And thing is, Yngwie CAN play slow. He's a music theory guru, I'm sure it...

@bobtobi420 A nereid is a sea nymph, it goes along nicely with the songs theme of being in a shipwreck and other sea references. On another note, this song has aged incredibly well. This album is Chiodos' greatest work in my oppinion and this is the best song on the album, again, in my oppinion.
