Indeed death is a great equalizer --
Before death we have a choice (free well) -- after death we have no choice (no free well)
However death is not the end it's just a stage before the beginning of the afterlife (which we know exist as the Quran tells Muslims)
What will the killers do in the Day of Judgment (in the next life)? as they will be questioned why they did what they had done. If they fail to defend it then punishment awaits them. Allah is (the most Just).

Death is only the awakening from the illusion of (a short life) that people compete for and oppress one another to gain worthless worldly possessions. This awakening will be followed by a never ending life in paradise for those who have submitted their well to Allah - - and a never ending life in hell for those who were arrogant to accept the simple clear fact that there is no God worthy of worship except one God (Allah) and that Mohammed is his messenger.

Death is only the real beginning.
