40 years ago when I skated, we didn't speak openly like this. I wish we did. Myself and other skaters then had our own issues with drugs, but things were always kept quiet...even if and when we did seek treatment.

As a retired competitive skater, I can say for sure it is a Salchow jump. The Salchow jump is often described as 'an Axel jump taken off from a back inside edge.' That would explain why it may appear as an Axel.
